How Turkish basbousa works

Turkish basbousa has become known in a lot of places around the world it is very tasty and simple ingredients can be prepared wherever you are it is a semolina, milk, sugar and Shera and it is easy and does not need much effort in making it and will be loved by your children and guests for sure .

Ingredients

  • 3 cup semolina
  • 1 ½ cup sugar
  • 1 ½ cup milk
  • 2 tsp Peking powder
  • To prepare the Shira:
  • 3 cups water
  • 3 cups sugar
  • Lemon juice
  • Peanuts for garnish

Method of preparation

  1. Put sugar in a bowl and pour over the milk and stir until the sugar is completely dissolved .
  2. Add semolina and stir well.
  3. Add the baking powder and stir all the ingredients well together until completely combined .
  4. Put the mixture in the bayrex dish and let it rest aside for about an hour or two .
  5. During this we bring the Shira, put the water and sugar on low heat until it boils about a quarter of an hour, stir then add the lemon juice and turn off the fire .
  6. Cut the basbousa, decorate with pistachios and then heat the oven to 170 degrees for 15-20 minutes depending on the type of oven .
  7. Remove from the oven, cut and let rest for 5 minutes, then pour over the warm Shira so that it is ready to serve .
